In the Beginning…
If tales are to be believed the origins of the team now known as the Moody Blues FC began in 1993. While the exact details of how it all happened have been forgotten even by the idiots who were actually there. The consensus of opinion seems to land with the belief that the aging yet ever green Mick and Al Hughes, along with Capo needed somewhere to go in the wasteland years following Premier football. It sure as shit wasn’t home to their wives. So with these lofty foundations in place the Moody Blues were born.
Recruiting typically happened through those whose tired legs (or tempers) saw them winding down their Stratford United careers thus Stratford United soccer park is still regarded as the spiritual home turf of the Moody Blues to this day, even if paying admission fee’s certainly is not.
The team has always played in local non-league competitions and has flown the flag for Cairns teams, by virtue of just showing up, in football carnivals around the state. In 2017 the growing roster of players meant the Over 35's defended their Premiership and Grand Final titles while also entering a new Over 45's team into that competition.
In 2018 the team enters its 25th year of competition without having fully evolved from its shit show beginnings but thriving none the less…..
I’d invite anyone visiting the site for the first time to read the ‘Blue Line’ and check out some of the photos from yesteryear to present.
Cheers
Bordo.
