The Long Road
It would be fair to say that the last few years have been trophy lean for the Moody Blues. Sure there's been at least two Grand Final appearances in the last few years but there was always a sense of 'nearly there' starting to settle in. Then came 2016. Punters saw a new meaner, keener (I couldn't really say leaner) Moody Blues take the pitch with probably the smallest squad we've had in some time. However in an unusual step Moodies Management were determined to respond to the changing times and did something completely left of field. We got a goal keeper. Who else would have fucken thought of that?
The team got a roll early in the season with an exceptional second round where we put at least four past every other team in the comp. Of course the usual Wednesday night hurdles of birthdays, watching the fucken kids, dinners with the missus, three weddings and Brimstone experiencing every medical malady out there (the shits, sore ribs, hamstrings with the malleability of dry pasta) which all caused some bumps but were generally over come.
In response an aggressive mid season transfer window saw Pommy, Crowe and Vis link up with the team and all of a sudden we had subs!! We had even more subs when Vis wasn't clogging the S-bend in the club house dunny mid game.
Going into the last few games the Japs showed they weren't up for it dropping points left, right and centre and despite a god like hand from Derek coming and giving them back points they lost against Bavarians, Moodies finished on top with a record of 26 Played, 21 won, 3 draws, 2 loses. 85 scored, 26 conceded.
This saw the team roll into the semi's against a determined Saints side that was put to the sword 3-0.
The Grand Final was played against the Japs with the Moodies winning again 3-0. It could have been 6-0. Highlights of the match included a 40 yard scorcher from Sean Lisle. Typically when he belts them like that they achieve low orbit but for once the Bush League Footballing Gods smiled and put it in the top pocket to Jap's Keeper - Brett's great distress.

So the 2016 season ended with the Moody Blues F.C finishing as Premiers and Grand Final winners. Well done to all the boys on a hard and long season.
Oh and one final thing. From President Bordo to Former President Dodgey.....
